Content Creation Process

Type descriptions are written in the following order:

1. Theoretical research: Using The Wisdom of the Enneagram (Riso and Hudson) as a base framework, we organize each type's core motivation, avoidance mechanism, and level of development.
2. Observation layer: We reflect the editor's own experience as a Type 9, observations from workshops and study groups, and theoretical understanding of other types.
3. Integration of spiritual perspective: We connect perspectives from authors such as Rupert Spira and Eckhart Tolle to the Enneagram's direction of growth.
4. Verification: We review the draft against the checklist below before publishing.

Reference Materials and Theoretical Basis

Core motivations, avoidance mechanisms, and levels of development are based primarily on Riso and Hudson's Enneagram theory. The spiritual growth sections reference concepts such as consciousness, presence, and observing the ego from Rupert Spira and Eckhart Tolle. Subtype commentary is written from theory together with workshop learning under guidance from Enneagram practitioners.

Distinction Between Personal Interpretation and Theory

The content on this site is broadly divided into two layers.

• General theory: Content widely accepted in Enneagram literature, such as core motivation, avoidance mechanism, level of development, and directions of integration and disintegration for each type
• Personal interpretation: Real-life applications by subtype, observations from inner-work experience, and interpretations that connect spirituality and the Enneagram

Type 9 commentary reflects a relatively large amount of the editor's direct experience, while the other types are organized primarily from theory and workshop learning. Personal interpretation is not an absolute answer, and readers are encouraged to compare it with their own experience.

Verification Goals

To keep type descriptions from reading as exaggerated or definitive, we review both accuracy of expression and user comprehensibility. The goal is not a sentence that merely looks convincing, but one that helps readers understand recurring patterns.

Verification Checklist

We check five basics: 1) motivation and behavior are not conflated, 2) there are no dangerous generalizations, 3) the text makes clear that the content is a self-understanding tool, 4) links to related documents work properly, and 5) mobile readability is preserved.

Update Criteria

When there is an error report, repeated misunderstanding, a policy change, or a meaningful change in user behavior data, we update the relevant page first. After revision, we document the main changes and run regression checks.

Metrics

We review completion rate, internal link navigation rate, FAQ inflow rate, and exit sections together to improve sentence difficulty and information structure. The data is used as reference for improving page quality.
